In the last few years, with the ongoing and impactful social justice and environmental issues, I have dived deep into an initiative interest. I struggle to understand the depths of these issues, but more importantly, I struggle to understand how so many don’t deem them issues. Throughout my life, I have used art to express and reflect on the world around me. I am able to use this outlet as a way to educate myself, create easily consumable information, and respond to unnerving topics around me. This business has allowed me to express these concerns. I have been able to create various environmentally aware products while using eco-friendly packaging, and most importantly, donating 7% of every purchase to the BC Parks Foundation, to support provincial protection and reconstruction. I have been able to advocate for youth, and for women-led business initiatives while working with companies to create social justice-toned designs. It has been a very difficult year to understand the legacy of colonialism in our world. This business has had me working to help where I can, and looking deeper into social justice actions, finding ways to insert more knowledge into my life. I am currently looking at various classes I can take that pertain to sociology and hope to soon integrate more justice-toned products into my shop, so that I can personally support strategies that make a difference.
